The United States welcomes visitors from Sudan for tourism, business, medical treatment, and short-term study through its nonimmigrant visa categories (B1/B2 and others). The process requires submitting the DS-160 form online, paying the consular fee, providing biometric data (fingerprints and photo), and attending a mandatory in-person interview.
Special Situation for Sudanese Applicants
Because the U.S. Embassy in Khartoum suspended all consular and visa services following the outbreak of war in April 2023, Sudanese nationals cannot book an appointment or attend a visa interview inside Sudan. Applicants must instead apply at a U.S. embassy or consulate in a third country where they are physically present at the time of booking and the interview.
