Netherlands Visa

The Netherlands is a Schengen member state and requires Sudanese nationals to obtain a Schengen visa before travel, including in-person biometric enrollment (fingerprints and photo) at a visa application centre. There is currently no e-visa system for the Netherlands.

Important: Where to Apply

The Dutch Embassy in Khartoum is currently closed until further notice and is not accepting visa applications. Sudan-based applicants must therefore apply through the Netherlands' mission in Cairo or Addis Ababa. Mandatory Prior Consultation

Sudanese passport holders are subject to mandatory Schengen prior consultation, an additional security clearance step the embassy carries out with other Schengen member states before deciding on the application, which can extend processing time. We recommend applying well ahead of your travel date to avoid delays.

Required Documents

• Passport valid for at least 3 months beyond the return date, with at least two blank pages
• Completed and signed visa application form
• Two recent passport-style photos meeting Schengen specifications
• Travel medical insurance covering at least €30,000, valid across the entire Schengen area
• Round-trip flight reservation
• Proof of accommodation (hotel booking or invitation letter)
• Bank statements showing financial capacity for the last 3 months
• Proof of employment or enrollment status (employment letter, commercial registration, or student certificate)
• In-person attendance for biometric enrollment at the application centre in Cairo or Addis Ababa

Processing Time

Official processing time for a Netherlands visa can reach up to 45 calendar days, especially given the mandatory prior consultation applied to Sudanese nationals. We recommend applying with plenty of time before your travel date.
