Before planning any international trip, it's important to know the essential documents Sudanese travelers typically need, to avoid any last-minute surprises before departure or at the entry point of your intended destination.
Passport
The foundation on which every other procedure is built. Make sure your passport is valid for a sufficient period (usually at least 6 months from the travel date), as many countries refuse entry to holders of passports nearing expiry, even if the visa itself is still valid.
Personal Photos
Most visa applications require recent passport-style photos with specific requirements (white background, a certain size, no glasses in most cases). It's best to prepare several extra copies before starting any application process.
Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate
Mandatory for entry into a number of African countries (such as Kenya), and sometimes required even if the final destination is not in Africa, if the traveler is arriving from or transiting through a country with yellow fever risk. Be sure to obtain it from an accredited health authority well ahead of your travel date.
Travel Ticket and Proof of Accommodation
Most countries require a round-trip ticket or proof that you will leave within the permitted stay period, in addition to proof of accommodation (a hotel booking or the address of your visit).
Travel Health Insurance
Mandatory for entry into some destinations (especially in Europe), and practically important even for destinations that don't require it, to cover any medical emergency during the trip. See our dedicated article on the importance of travel health insurance for more details.
Additional Documents Depending on Your Case
- Proof of funds (bank statement) for some visas.
- An invitation letter for family or business visits.
- A notarized employment contract for work visas.
